That's the season done. Twenty-eight days of sourdough pizza, live music and DJ sets in the dunes at Porth Tyn Tywyn, Rhosneigr — and every one of them made by the people who turned up. Thank you. We'll see you back on the sand next summer.
Every night of August is behind us now — the two-night Ian Luther residency, the melodica, the vinyl drum & bass that closed us out on the bank holiday, and a great many pizzas eaten barefoot in the dunes. It only works because you came. Diolch o galon from all of us at Dreamboat, and we look forward to seeing you all again next year.

A lot of what ends up in your bowl was grown by Mike and Linda. Not as a marketing line — as a year-round habit. Tomatoes, cucumber, rocket, courgette, kale: sown in spring, picked in the morning, on your table by the evening. When something isn't ours, it's sourced properly.
It's also why the salads change. We serve what's ready, not what's on a laminated list.
Organic quinoa with zesty green harissa, courgette and kale from the garden, pomegranate, rocket, and homemade houmous made with organic chickpeas. Zesty green lemony olives. Feta if you want it.
Not always on the board — it depends what the garden's giving us. If you see it, order it.
Made without gluten-containing ingredients. We make and cook our sourdough on site, though, so we can't promise a gluten-free kitchen — do ask us if you need to be careful.
Tomatoes, cucumber and rocket straight out of the garden, a little red onion, feta, and Moroccan green olives. Lemony, zesty, finished with balsamic.
Simple, and it lives or dies on the tomatoes — which is exactly why we grow our own.

A Mercedes 406D, to be precise. The shape, the size, the vibe — we were hooked. We spent a long time peeling back fifty years of other people's dreams to restore and convert it into ours.
Dreamboat is Mike's passion for Mercedes trucks, woodworking and fabricating, meeting Linda's obsession with food that pleases both the eye and the belly. We designed it to be flexible, just like us: friendly café, vintage cocktail bar, proper food stall — or all three at once.
For one month a year we take the whole thing off-grid into the dunes at Porth Tyn Tywyn, add a canopy, an oven and a stage, and call it Pizza @ The Beach.

Every day on the grid is a day we're open — pizza and coffee run right through. The navy nights are the ones with someone playing, and whether that's a band or a DJ is written next to each name below. Midweek tends to lean local and acoustic, weekends lean louder, but we book what we love rather than filling slots, so nothing is fixed. Tuesdays there's no bar — bring your own drinks to have with food.

A month of live guitar, three-piece singalongs, eclectic DJ sets, live melodica and Balearic sunsets — all of it under a canopy in the dunes. Bios and links kept here, along with who to contact if you’d like them at your own do.
The biggest booking of the month, and he's here twice. Ian Luther is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from Chepstow, and the one thing every write-up of him agrees on is that you can't file him under a genre — a set can move from a flamenco-styled instrumental to a lamenting love song to flat-out rock without apologising for any of it.
Through the nineties he played with Dave "Celtic" Cox as the Twist Devils, doing over two hundred UK venues a year. Since then he's toured solo across Britain and Europe, played Glastonbury, and put out four records — The Blue Planet, The Lonely Road, The End of the World and Cheek.
He's also the guitarist in the Gwent band The Belgians, and he wrote and composed a rock comedy that ran at the Edinburgh Festival — which began, improbably, as a musical about life on a building site, written when he was an electrician in Chepstow.
Luther is a derivative of "lute player". He's pointed this out himself more than once, and describes himself as a modern-day minstrel following his surname. Geoff Downes of Asia and Yes calls him "a complete one-off". Two nights at the beach, six till eight, and you should come to both.
He's been playing live since he was a kid — punk bands first, then touring Britain and Europe playing more or less everything, with live sessions on BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music along the way. He cut his teeth properly on the Leeds circuit before coming back to play around Ynys Môn and North Wales.
What you get now is the distilled version: a music graduate with a renowned voice and a finger-picking style to match, working under a broad Americana umbrella — funk, blues, country, that vintage classic sound. Well-known songs reinterpreted in his own laid-back acoustic style, with a bit of eighties and pop thrown in. Springsteen, but done Rory's way.
He isn't precious about any of it. He wants people entertained and having a good time, and that's what you'll get on the sand.
He also fronts Rory E. Lee & the Oddfellows — dive-bar country, blues and Americana — who play Soft Sundays at the Boathouse in Holyhead on the first Sunday of every month.
Resident at The Stores in Trearddur Bay and at Alias, and a regular at The Chapel in Rhoscolyn.
Gareth and Jim have been Go Cat since the mid-nineties — a pair who cut their teeth playing hip hop at the Waterloo in Bangor and never really stopped. Thirty years of records between two turntables.
They're usually the ones banging out the amens and old-school jungle rollers, and they've earned the right to: sets alongside Remarc, Warlock and Serial Killaz, and appearances at Definition, Locked, Kaya Fest, Pirate Audio, Tonnau and Gottwood.
Sunday at Dreamboat is the other side of them. Hip hop, funk, soul, dub and whatever else comes out of the bag — old school in the way it's meant to be, played to a beach at sunset rather than a dark room at 2am. Pizza's on, the sun goes down about half eight, and there's no rush to be anywhere.
Miv Cameron, Kevin Hughes and Dave Livingston have been the sound of an Anglesey afternoon for years — Castle Square in Beaumaris, the taproom at Bragdy Cybi, the beer garden at The Ring, the Bull at Pentraeth, and over the bridge as far as Rhos on Sea.
It started as a duo. Dave came along fifteen years ago, they changed the name to fit, and the three of them have been at it ever since.
Sixties and seventies favourites, Irish songs and jigs, and a set built entirely around getting people to join in. This isn't a concert and they'd be the first to tell you so — expect These Boots Are Made for Walkin', an Irish jig with everyone on their feet, and a last-song Hey Jude the whole tent sings. Sing along, dance along, don't take it too seriously.
They've had Johnny Vegas up on stage with them, which tells you roughly what kind of night it is.
A singer and songwriter from Neston on the Wirral, now living in North Wales. Jane has been performing live since the early 1980s — pop and alternative bands first, a country band through the nineties, and since 2002 a solo career singing traditional and original folk.
Strong roots in the Liverpool and Irish traditions, and she plays them everywhere — folk clubs, sessions, festivals, pubs, community venues and boats, across North Wales and Ireland. She's a trustee of the Narrowboat Sessions and works constantly with other musicians rather than alone.
Her fourth album, Mark of In Between, came out in June, recorded and produced at Traxvault Studios in Holyhead.
All profits from her CDs and downloads go to local charities and community projects. Her career took in teaching Aikido, learning disability nursing and an honorary lectureship at Bangor University — she now describes herself as happily retired, with the job title "musician".
Three hours of cinematic ambient and sunset-drenched Balearic. Very chilled, very electronic. In his own shorthand: Tycho at Burning Man, Boards of Canada, 100bpm.
Which makes this the most deliberately unhurried night of the season. Most evenings here build; this one is designed to spread out over three hours and go nowhere in particular, which on a Sunday on a beach is exactly right.
Ed plays Gottwood and Tonnau — both up the road at Carreglwyd, and both places Dreamboat regulars will know — as well as U Know, Home of The Drum, and Hendre Hall at Talybont outside Bangor.
The sun goes down at 20:27, which puts it about two-thirds of the way through his set. If you only come for one hour of this one, come for that one.
Malcolm Innes is joining us for a special warm-up session — a local legend on the piano, playing freestyle. No setlist, no plan, whatever comes out.
Back on Saturday 29 August, this time alongside DJ Arwyn — piano in sections between Arwyn’s sets, from 4pm through the sunset. He warmed up for Eva on Monday the 24th.
A science student from North Wales who has been singing since she was young. Her school specialised in the performing arts, and she sang in its live-streamed rock show and its band nights, as well as regularly in the choir.
She’s writing songs of her own at the moment. For this set, though, it’s alternative pop and folk rock — in her words, “some songs you’ll definitely know and love, and others you might not have come across.”
Expect Fairport Convention, Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles and Lana Del Rey, among others.
That’s a wider span than it first looks. Fairport Convention more or less invented English folk rock in the late sixties; Lana Del Rey is about as contemporary as a reference gets. Picking both, and meaning it, is the interesting thing here — and it’s a good sign for the songs she’s writing.
A global ensemble based in Bangor, put together by the poet and musician Martin Daws. Eight musicians between them holding seven nationalities — Botswana, Cameroon, the Dominican Republic, England, Greece, Malaysia and Wales.
Drawn together, in their own words, by the love of good music and the power of rhythm to move people. The stated mission is "to inspire their audience's minds while giving their bodies freedom to dance", which is about as good a description of a Wednesday in the dunes as we could ask for.
Martin has performed his work across three decades and several continents, and recorded with 9Bach, Mr Phormula, Huw Warren and Huw V Williams. He was Young People's Laureate for Wales from 2013 to 2016, and has co-curated the POETica performance series in Bangor since 2007.
Eight musicians on the sand at Porth Tyn Tywyn. This is the biggest thing we've booked all month.
Takes over at 8.30pm when Rory finishes and runs it till late. Not a one-genre DJ — Scragga reads a room and builds a night out of it, moving from funk and soul into reggae and dub, through eighties and nineties, with a bit of jazzy house when the moment asks for it.
Thoughtful rather than showy. The kind of set where you look up an hour later and realise you never once wanted to hear something else.
He runs the decks at Tonnau and is stage manager of Roots Corner at Shambala Festival — so he knows exactly how to hold a crowd through a long evening.
Covers — but not the ones you're bracing for. A wide range of songs taken somewhere else entirely: a bit of swing in them, a jazz sensibility underneath, and the kind of phrasing that makes you look up halfway through a song you thought you knew.
Tallulah is an emerging independent singer-songwriter and musician, working across soul, R&B, jazz and 70s and 80s progressive rock. Her own writing leans on intricate vocal harmony, real lyrics and melodies that go somewhere — and that habit doesn't switch off when she's playing someone else's song.
She comes from a musical family, and the influences she names are Kate Bush, Steely Dan, Journey and Toto — which, if you know those records, tells you exactly where the swing comes from. None of them ever wrote a chord that sat still.
Musician, producer and mixing and mastering engineer — one of those rare bookings who builds records from the ground up as well as playing them. Reggae and world music, of the Equity Hifi camp, with a soundsystem sensibility behind it.
An extended set, and live melodica played over the top — so this one moves between a DJ set and a live performance rather than sitting neatly in either.
An early one. Max starts at 3pm and plays through the afternoon — so this is the day to come down while the sun's still high, rather than turning up at dusk. And he's followed by a special guest artist, still to be announced.

Confirmed — and it's two of them. Freddochino and Pebbles, of Away with the Farey’s and Hilltop Hifi, trading the decks between them under the canopy.
An upbeat vinyl selection — tropical funk, afro disco, broken beat, reggae and everything in between. Which, for a Wednesday with the sun going down over the water, is about the right amount of everything.
Wednesday is the quieter end of the week: more for people who live here than people passing through. Pizza out of the oven all evening, bar open. Free entry, no tickets, just turn up.

Porth Tyn Tywyn faces due west into the Irish Sea, which makes it one of the few places in Wales you can do the Balearic sunset ritual properly.
Saturday 29 August he takes the whole day. On from 4pm straight through the sunset — downtempo, Balearic and electronica, the Ibiza and Tulum end of things — with Malcolm Innes dropping in on the piano between the sets.
DJ Fflyffilyfbybl and Stevie Bear met years ago running the backroom at parties like Painted Chariot and Fright Night — and they have been doing it a long time. A Byd Mawr listing from 2007 bills “DJ fflyffilyfbybl and Stevie Bear” together at Painted Chariot’s annual Red Cross benefit, a members-only party up at Nant Gwynant in the hills. That is nineteen years ago.
Fright Night was the Halloween fancy-dress night at Hendre Hall, the 500-capacity converted farm building at Talybont outside Bangor, and Hendre is where the pair were regulars.
They went on to help set up the Byd Mawr nights, and that is the part worth knowing about. Between roughly 2005 and 2010 Byd Mawr put The Mighty Diamonds, Johnny Clarke, Nuru Kane, Etran Finatawa, Kasai Masai and Justin Adams & Juldeh Camara on stage in north Wales, and in February 2008 put Alex Paterson of The Orb behind the decks at Hendre Hall playing a reggae set. And together with Fright Night — the same Halloween night — they brought System 7 and Eat Static to north Wales. Fflyffilyfbybl was one of the night’s resident DJs. When the bio says Byd Mawr brought famous names to north Wales, those are the names.
Between them: global beats and rave culture, and a shared love of reggae, funk and music from all over. What comes out is a selection you won’t hear anywhere else, played with groove, from the heart.

This is their third year at Dreamboat — which makes them as much a part of this place as the van is. Two decades on from a members-only field in Nant Gwynant, they’re playing a pizza van on a beach. They’re looking forward to seeing friends old and new at Porth Tyn Tywyn.
A genuine all-rounder — piano, guitar, live electronic looping, and time spent singing with the National Youth Choir. He plays by ear, takes requests and reads a room rather than working through a setlist.
Pitched low-key: nearer a jam session than a concert. Singalong if that's where the evening goes, and something quieter if it isn't.
He's on Channel 4's The Piano at the moment, the series with Claudia Winkleman. He played his own composition, Grief, and came through as the wildcard — so he goes up against the other wildcards in the next round.
From 4pm, a special extended set — the earliest music of the whole month bar one, and the longest. Closing the bank holiday weekend, and the season’s last long evening on the sand. An eclectic set built end to end as a soundtrack for the night rather than a showcase — whatever keeps the dunes exactly where they should be.
You'll more often find Zac playing techno. This is a special Dreamboat set, made for the sunset and the sand.
A strictly vinyl DJ with roots in the raw energy of the 90s rave scene. Her sets blend house and techno with old school classics — groovy, nostalgic, and properly connected to the dancefloor.
Originally from North Wales, she came up through the underground rave scene in the nineties, involved not just as a DJ but as part of the culture. She co-ran and held a residency at Inner Logic, helping shape the local scene at the time.
After that the journey went well beyond Wales: Ireland’s west coast in the late nineties, then France, where she ran a sound system at surf competitions and played clubs. In 2006 she moved to Portugal, becoming a resident DJ in the Algarve while playing free parties and running her own sound system.
Now back in North Wales, she’s behind her own event Spira and plays venues including Neuadd Ogwen, linking up with other artists and promoters to keep the scene moving.
More recently she’s been exploring drum and bass — taking her love of vinyl and underground music somewhere new while building on the sounds that got her here. Monday is where that lands.
A drum & bass DJ with roots going back to the vinyl days, when she ran her own D&B night — Switch.
She now mixes vinyl and digital, bringing together her love of liquid, deep and rolling drum & bass.
Billed together as Black & Morgan for the closing night — two DJs who learned this on records, seeing the season out on the sand.

For one month only, Arwyn brings the Balearic sunset ritual to the west coast of Anglesey. Café del Mar built its name on one simple thing — the right record at the moment the sun touches the water. Our own blend of organic spices — warming, golden, gently sweet, with the pepper that makes turmeric work properly. Stir a spoonful into hot milk, dairy or plant-based, and you'll understand why people keep coming back for it.
It started as the thing we made for ourselves on cold mornings in the van. Now it's the drink people ask for by name, and the one they want to take home with them.

Weddings, private parties and corporate events across Anglesey, Gwynedd and North Wales — but everything we do is designed from scratch for the day. There's no set menu to choose from and no package to pick, because we've never done two events the same way.
We take on a small number of events each year and we turn most enquiries down — not to be difficult, but because we'd rather do a handful properly than a lot adequately. We hold a personal alcohol licence, so the bar can come too. Dates go early.

Yes. We're outdoors in the dunes with a large canopy, and well-behaved dogs are very welcome. The coastal path and beach are right alongside us.
Come anyway. We're open every day of the season, rain or shine — there's a large covered canopy, the oven's going regardless, and the dunes are lovely in the drizzle. No need to check first.
Yes, and it's a lovely walk. The coastal path runs right alongside us — it's about 20 minutes on foot from Rhosneigr village, and about 15 minutes from Cable Bay.
Yes — Porth Tyn Tywyn is a large pay & display beach car park, and we're set up right there. It does get busy on sunny August days, so come early if you can.
A lot of it from our own garden. Mike and Linda grow the tomatoes, cucumber, rocket, courgette and kale that go into the salads, sown in spring and picked through the season. It's why the salads change — we serve what's ready rather than what's on a fixed list. Anything we don't grow, we source properly.
Very much so. We've historically served vegetarian and vegan food only, and that's still the heart of what we do — organic sourdough pizza, garden salads, plant-based milks for every coffee. We now also introduce some well-sourced non-vegetarian ingredients on occasion, so there's something for the whole family.
Porth Tyn Tywyn faces west, so the sunsets are the main event. In August 2026: 21:01 on the 8th, 20:47 on the 15th, 20:32 on the 22nd, 20:16 on the 29th, and 20:11 on the 31st. Our resident DJ Arwyn plays the sunset hour.
